Lake Hayes Pavilion

Calling all Queenstown and local superheroes!

Relay for Life is coming to one of the most beautiful spots in New Zealand when Lake Hayes Pavilion comes alive on Saturday 16 March 2019 for this community, family friendly event! Get a team together, fundraise, and walk relay style for 24 hours to remember, celebrate and fight back against cancer.

What is Relay for Life?

Relay for Life is an inspirational and super fun event for everyone of all fitness levels, during which we celebrate with survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and come together as a community to fight back against cancer. Teams camp out and take turns walking/running around a track for 24 hours while enjoying a festival-like atmosphere of live music, entertainment and activities, all with a fantastic community spirit.

Why do we need you?

Not only is it an amazing event, Relay for Life is also a vital fundraiser for the Cancer Society’s work in Otago & Southland. This work includes providing support services to people in your community who have been affected by cancer, promoting health messages to reduce the number of people who get cancer, and funding vital research about the prevention and treatment of cancer.

How do you get involved?

Tell your friends, family and colleagues and get a team together now!

Registration is $25pp and there is a minimum requirement of 10 people per team.  Team captains can register first and CREATE A TEAM and they can then invite team members OR individuals can register themselves and add to a team later. Registration includes:

  • Entry to the event
  • T-shirt
  • Candlebag and candle
  • 24 hours of entertainment
  • Hot breakfast on Sunday

Teams are encouraged to fundraise leading up to the event.  On Everydayhero you will be given an online FUNDRAISING PAGE so you can share your story and fundraising efforts on social media, all while increasing awareness of the event and of the work of the Cancer Society.

Register as an Individual or small team

If you are struggling to find enough people for a team but are still keen to take part, we can help by placing your team with another small team to create an EPIC team. It's the perfect opportunity to meet new people and fight cancer together! Please email and we will get back to you.

Whether you are a cancer survivor, a carer, a supporter or simply want to make a difference, Relay for Life empowers everyone involved. We hope to see you there!

*Tent sites are 4x4m each and we only have a limited number available. If you want a larger size site please contact Shantelle Cockroft-Gerken (email or ph 03 442 4281).

Cancer Society Otago & Southland Division

Your donation supports the work of the Cancer Society here in Otago and Southland. The aim of the Cancer Society is to reduce the risk of cancer through health promotion, provide free support services and information for people and their families affected by cancer, and fund cancer research.

One in three New Zealanders will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. Your support ensures that we can reduce the risk of cancer by building healthy communities and by being there when people need us, so that no one goes through cancer alone.

Cancer Society of New Zealand, Otago and Southland Division Incorporated is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC23699.
